WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Edelicio Castillo-Ramos, a Mexican national, illegally residing in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, with one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that Castillo-Ramos was previously removed from the United States on July 12, 2012, through Calexico, California. It is further alleged that sometime after his 2012 removal, Castillo-Ramos, on an unknown date and at an unknown location, reentered the United States without obtaining permission or legal authorization to do so.
According To Charging Information
The indictment also alleges that on June 20, 2025, Castillo-Ramos was encountered and taken into custody in Clinton County, Pennsylvania, for being unlawfully in the country without having proper documentation granting his permission.
If convicted at trial, Castillo-Ramos faces up to two years in federal prison, at least one year of supervised release, as well as a $250,000 fine. At sentencing upon a finding of guilt, a U.S. District Court Judge would determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Castillo-Ramos’ prior criminal history.
Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Castillo-Ramos would face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.
