Wharton Man Charged In Armed Robbery Of Dover Deli

DOVER, NJ.- A 27-year-old Wharton, New Jersey, man is facing over two decades in New Jersey State Prison after being taken into custody and charged in connection with the armed robbery of a local Dover, New Jersey, deli that occurred during the late morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at around 11:00 a.m., members of the Dover Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an armed robbery at a deli located on Richards Avenue in the Town of Dover.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Learn Masked Man Entered The Deli
Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by an employee that a man wearing a mask had entered the establishment, approached a customer who was standing at the counter, grabbed his arm while pointing a handgun at him. The suspect then pointed the handgun at the two employees behind the counter and demanded money. The employees complied and gave the suspect $360, and the suspect exited the deli and fled the scene in a vehicle.
During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Dover Police Department identified Dwayne A. Brown, 27, of Wharton, New Jersey, as the suspect.
Detectives Identify Brown As Suspect
Accordingly, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, Detectives with the assistance of the Wharton Police Department apprehended Brown and formally charged him with three counts of first-degree Armed Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and three counts of fourth-degree Aggravated Assault for Pointing a Firearm at an Individual.
Brown was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending future court proceedings in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown, New Jersey.
