MAPLE SHADE, NJ.- On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following a trial in Burlington County Superior Court, a 25-year-old Clementon, New Jersey, man was found guilty for his role in the 2022 Maple Shade, New Jersey, robbery and shooting death of a 32-year-old Maple Shade, New Jersey, man.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, the Jury deliberated for just two-and-a-half hours before finding Teon Macklin-Goodwine, 25, of Clementon, guilty on the charges of first-degree Felony Murder; first-degree Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.
Macklin-Goodwine Faces Up To Life In Prison
Following the jury returning their findings of guilt, Superior Court Judge Mark P. Tarantino, who presided over the trial, accepted the Jury’s verdict and scheduled sentencing for August 29, 2025. At that time, Macklin-Goodwine faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years and potentially up to life in New Jersey State Prison.
Investigation Began Whe Police Officers Find Man Shot
The guilty verdict stems from an investigation that began on January 16, 2022, when, during the evening hours, members of the Maple Shade Police Department responded to the Fox Meadow apartment complex after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Ezekiel Sanders, Jr., 32, of Maple Shade, New Jersey, lying on the ground on Gardenia Drive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Mr. Sanders was transported to Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Sanders tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Detectives Identify Macklin-Goodwine As One Of The Suspects
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives determined that Macklin-Goodwine and his co-defendant, Gregory Berry, 25, of Glassboro, New Jersey, went to Mr. Sanders’ apartment complex with the intention of committing a robbery. Under a plea agreement with the Burlington Prosecutor’s Office, Berry pleaded guilty last year to first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter in return for a 17-year New Jersey State Prison term, and is currently awaiting sentencing.
