Cape May County Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Child

LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last Monday, following an investigation, a 34-year-old Lower Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with sexually assaulting a child.
On Monday, June 30, 2025, on Monday, June 30, 2025, the Lower Township Police Department received a report of a possible sexual assault of a child that had occurred in the Township. Following receiving the report, a joint investigation by the Lower Township Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was launched.
   During the investigation, and following interviewing witnesses, including the minor victim, Detectives found probable cause to believe that Rayvon Knight, 34, of Lower Township, New Jersey, sexually assaulted a child in Lower Township, New Jersey. It is unclear whether the victim and Knight were known to each other.
Following The Investigation Detectives Formally Charge Knight
Accordingly, as a result of the investigation, on Monday, June 30, 2025, Knight was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; and one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Knight was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Superior Court.
If convicted at trial, Knight faces a maximum penalty of ten years in New Jersey State Prison. Knight would also be subject to parole supervision for life and would be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements.
