Sunday, July 6, 2025, 7:30 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

CONCORD, NH.- On Monday, a 45-year-old Farmington, New Hampshire, man learned he could be potentially facing up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Monday in Federal Court in Concord, New Hampshire, to a child pornography charge.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack, on Monday, June 30, 2025, Michael F.J. Murphy, 45, of Farmington, New Hampshire, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Paul Barbadoro to one count of Possession of Child Pornography.

Murphy Faces Up To 20 Years In Federal Prison

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Barbadoro accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for October 14, 2025. At that time, Murphy faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Murphy’s prior criminal history, if any.

According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, in December 2023, during an internet child pornography investigation, Murphy distributed a video file depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of a child to an undercover law enforcement officer utilizing a file-sharing platform.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the United States Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
