BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Wednesday, a 54-year-old Brick Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with leaving the scene of a vehicle crash that occurred earlier in the evening on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Brick Township, New Jersey.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m., members of the Brick Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a car crash at the intersection of Brick Boulevard and Schoener Drive in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro that had crashed into a utility pole, and the driver had fled the crash on foot.

Driver Identified As Nicholas Lotito

During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers determined that the driver of the Camaro, identified as Nicholas Lotito, 54, of Brick Township, New Jersey, and two passengers, were traveling along Brick Boulevard when Lotito lost control of the Camaro and crashed into the utility pole. All three individuals then left the area.

It was later discovered that one of the passengers in the Camaro was taken to Ocean University Medical Center in the Township by a friend, where he was treated for injuries he sustained in the crash and released. The other passenger was uninjured in the crash. Lotito was located a short time later as he was attempting to return to his Brick Township home. He was taken into custody and transported to Ocean University Medical Center for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Detectives Charge Lotito With Leaving The Scene

While at the Medical Center, Police Officers obtained a court-authorized blood draw of Mr. Lotito’s blood; those results were pending analysis. Following being released from the hospital, Lotito was formally charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Bodily Injury. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail. Following his initial appearance in Ocean County Superior Court, Lotito was released on bail with monitoring conditions pending further court proceedings.
