Man Fatally Gunned Down Late Sunday Night On An Atlantic City Overpass

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sunday night’s shooting death of a 43-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, just shortly before 11:30 p.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call from a motorist reporting a man down in the area of 1400 North Albany Avenue, on the overpass of Route 40 leading to Atlantic City High School.
Police Officers Find Vaughn Lyons Deceased
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Vaughn Lyons, 43, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, on the ground, having succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Lyons was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. A subsequent autopsy performed by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be multiple gunshot wounds, and the Manner of Death to be homicide.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting death of Mr. Lyons.
