Police Charge Teen In Last Tuesday’s Northeast D.C. Armed Robberies

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday, a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with two gunpoint robberies that occurred just minutes apart on Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2025, in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, just minutes after 2:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 100 Block of 53rd Street in Northeast, D.C. Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed that three teenage suspects approached the victims, when one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Another suspect forcibly took their money and quickly fled the area.

     Again, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, just minutes later, at around 2:41 p.m., D.C. Metropolitan Police Officers were notified and responded to a report of another armed robbery on the 5500 Block of Clay Street in Northeast, D.C. Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by the victims that while they were on Clay Street, three teenagers approached them. One of the teens pulled out a handgun and demanded their money and property. Another suspect then forcibly grabbed their money and items and fled the scene.

Detectives Charge Teenage Boy With Boy Robberies

     On Sunday, July 6, 2025, based on the ensuing investigation, Detectives arrested one of the suspects, identified only as a 15-year-old Northeast, D.C., boy, and formally charged him with two counts of Armed Robbery. The teen was processed on the charges, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

     The investigation remains ongoing. Two additional suspects remain at large. Anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time of these incidents is urged to contact the D.C.
