NEWFIELD, NJ.- On Wednesday, following an investigation, a 44-year-old Glassboro, New Jersey, man employed as an Emergency Medical Technician was taken into custody and charged in connection with stealing money from a patient while providing medical assistance.
According to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns and charging documents filed in the criminal complaint, on April 30, 2025, Antoni Simmons, 44, of Glassboro, New Jersey, employed as a Emergency Medical Technician for Gloucester County, was dispatched to a residence in Newfield, New Jersey, to provide medical services to a patient. During his time at the residence, Simmons went through the woman’s purse and stole around $220 in cash.
Later that day, the woman discovered the cash was missing from her purse and notified the Police. During an ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit recovered video surveillance footage that showed Simmons going through the woman’s purse and allegedly removing and pocketing the cash.
Accordingly, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Simmons was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of fourth-degree Theft by Unlawful Taking. He was processed on the charge and released on summons complaint pending his first appearance in Gloucester County Superior Court in Woodbury, New Jersey, which has been tentatively scheduled for September 4, 2025.
