Two Men Gunned Down, One Fatally, Late Monday Night In Trenton

TRENTON, NJ.- The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a confrontation that turned deadly, leaving a 43-year-old Trenton, New Jersey, man dead and another hospitalized after gunfire erupted late last night in New Jersey’s Capital City.
According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, on Monday, July 14, 2025, just minutes before 12:00 a.m., members of the Trenton Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on the 600 Block of North Clinton Avenue in the City of Trenton.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Two Men Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered two men, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, one of the men, identified as Shaylynn Richardson, 43, of Trenton, New Jersey, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The man underwent treatment for his injuries, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Police Learn That Shots Were Fired Following An Altercation
During the preliminary investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives determined that an altercation had occurred between two groups of individuals in the area of Covert Alley, which led to gunfire erupting, fatally striking Mr. Richardson, and injuring the other man.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the gunman. Witnesses reported seeing a Silver Sport Utility Vehicle fleeing the scene after the gunfire broke out.
