Logan County Brothers Plead Guilty To Federal Drug Trafficking Crimes

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Thursday, two brothers from Bruno, West Virginia, learned they could both be spending up to twenty years in federal prison, after admitting guilt to distributing quantities of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine throughout the Logan County, West Virginia area.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Timothy Ray Gravley, 41, and Jessie Joe Gravley, II, 42, both of Bruno, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Irene C. Berger to federal narcotics offenses.
Timothy Gravley pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 400 Grams or More of a Substance Containing Fentanyl, and his brother, Jessie Gravley, II, pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine and Quantities of Fentanyl and Heroin.
Both Brothers Face Up To Life In Federal Prison
Following entering their guilty pleas on Thursday, Judge Berger scheduled both brothers to be sentenced on November 6, 2025. At that time, both Timothy and Jessie face a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison, as well as a fine of up to $10 million. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Timothy and Jessie’s prior criminal history.
According To Charging Documents
According to court documents and statements made during Thursday’s plea hearing, on October 17, 2024, following a narcotics investigation, federal and state law enforcement Investigators executed court-authorized search warrants at the residences of both brothers. At Timothy Gravley’s home, investigators located and seized around 559.69 grams of fentanyl found in multiple bags, a Ruger .380-caliber handgun, a Umarex .22-caliber pistol, and $20,131 in U.S. currency. At Jessie Gravley’s home, Investigators located and seized 250.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 40.18 grams of heroin, 53.7 grams of cocaine, and $19,243 in U.S. currency.
During his plea allocation, Timothy admitted that he possessed the fentanyl seized by Investigators at his residence and that he intended to distribute it in and around the Southern District of West Virginia. He further admitted to selling a total of 6.64 grams of fentanyl for a total of $700 in two separate transactions, the first being on October 10, 2024, and the second on October 15, 2024, each time to a confidential informant in Bruno, West Virginia.
During his plea allocation, Jessie Gravley admitted that he possessed the methamphetamine that Investigators seized from his residence and that he intended to distribute it in and around the Southern District of West Virginia. Jessie further admitted to selling controlled substances to a confidential informant on two occasions in Bruno, West Virginia. On October 9, 2024, he sold 1.81 grams of fentanyl, 24.99 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and again, 29.03 grams of crystal methamphetamine for $620.
Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative efforts of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Route 119 Drug Task Force, which led to the brothers’ guilty pleas on Thursday.
