South Toms River Man Charged For The April 2025 Murder Of His Wife

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ.- Today, July 23, 2025, an Ocean County, New Jersey, Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Gustavo Juarez-Perez, of South Toms River, New Jersey, with first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The charges are in connection with the strangulation death of his wife, Cheyanne Juarez, 30, of South Toms River, New Jersey, that occurred in March 2025, inside their South Toms River home.
According To The Charging Information Unsealed In The Indictment
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., members of the South Toms River Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unconscious woman inside a residence located on Hummel Drive in South Toms River.
Upon arrival, Police Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel discovered a woman, later identified as Ms. Juarez, unconscious on the floor with apparent trauma to her face and a belt around her neck. Despite life-saving efforts by Emergency Medical Services, Ms. Juarez was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the South Toms River Police Department, with the assistance of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, quickly determined that Juarez-Perez was responsible for the beating and strangulation death of his wife.
Juarez-Perez was taken into custody at the scene and formally charged. After being processed on the charges, he was lodged in the Ocean County Jail, where he has remained pending trial.
