TRENTON, NJ.- On Tuesday, following an investigation, a 45-year-old Trenton, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed in connection with the alleged sextortion scheme involving a 14-year-old Idaho girl.
According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, Travis Reisen, 45, of Trenton, New Jersey, was formally charged by Detectives with one count of first-degree Manufacturing of Child Pornography; one count of second-degree Sexual Assault, by Sexual Exploitation; one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and fourth-degree Tampering with Evidence.
Reisen was processed on the charges and remanded to the Mercer County Correction Center, pending future court proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court in Trenton, New Jersey. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Reisen pending trial.
Charges Result From A Two-State Investigation
The charges stem from an investigation that was initiated in the State of Idaho when a mother of a child reported to members of the Twin Falls Police Department that her 14-year-old daughter was the victim of an online sexual exploitation. The investigation revealed that the child had posted an online advertisement seeking babysitting opportunities and was subsequently contacted by a man inquiring about her services.
The man then proceeded to engage in sexually explicit conversation with the child and extorted digital images and a video from the child engaging in a sexually explicit manner. Law enforcement investigators identified Reisen as the individual who was engaging with the child, and Investigators with the Twin Falls Police Department contacted the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, members of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with assistance from the Special Victims Unit, the Economic Crime Unit, the Cyber Crimes Unit, and the Mercer County Tactical Response Team, executed a court-authorized search warrant at Reisen’s Lee Avenue home in the City of Trenton.
During the search, Detectives located and seized multiple electronic devices and other items related to the crimes. Reisen was taken into custody without incident at that time.
If convicted at trial, due to the nature of the alleged offenses and the age of the victim, Reisen will be facing over two decades in New Jersey State Prison.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation or other activities regarding Reisen is urged to contact the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Unit at (609) 989-6568 or the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at (888) 648-6007. All calls and information will be kept confidential.
