Arizona Counterfeit Pill & Meth Supplier Sentenced In Virginia Drug Case

RICHMOND, VA.- A 35-year-old Arizona counterfeit Oxycodone pill and methamphetamine supplier was sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for shipping deadly fentanyl pills through the mail from Arizona into the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Matthew Stuart Powlowsky, 35, of Arizona, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge John A. Gibney, Jr., to 90 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release after pleading guilty to federal drug trafficking crimes.
Powlowsky Previously Pleads Guilty To Federal Drug Crimes
Powlowsky previously appeared in Federal Court in Richmond, Virginia, and pleaded guilty to Distribution of Methamphetamine; and Distribution of Counterfeit Pills Containing Fentanyl and Parafentanyl.
According To Court Documents
According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, during an investigation into illicit narcotics distribution within the Eastern District of Virginia, Federal Investigators conducted three controlled buys in February and March 2022. During the controlled buys, Powlowsky sold methamphetamine and counterfeit Oxycodone pills containing deadly fentanyl, which he shipped through the U.S. Postal Service from Arizona to Virginia.
In total, Powlowsky sold and shipped a total of 86.48 grams of methamphetamine that was determined to be 95% pure and a quantity of counterfeit Oxycodone pills.
