Ocean County Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 34-year-old Toms River, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, the investigation was launched after the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad received a CyberTip from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding an individual in the Ocean County area who was uploading digital images of child pornography from the internet.
Detectives Identify Howell As Alleged Child Porn Suspect
During the investigation, Detectives of the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit identified an IP address associated with a Toms River residence as the location from which the individual was uploading the child pornography. Further investigation led to Jeremey Howell, 34, of Toms River, New Jersey, who was utilizing the IP address to upload the media files of child pornography.
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Detectives of the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the Toms River Township Police Department, and the Toms River Township Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit executed a court-authorized search warrant on Howell’s residence. During an initial forensic examination of Howell’s cellular phone, Detectives uncovered several items of child pornography on the phone.
Accordingly, following the discovery of the child pornography, Howell was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography. Howell was processed on the charge and remanded to the Ocean County Jail. Following making his initial appearance, Howell was released on monitoring conditions pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
