NEWPORT NEWS, VA.- A 26-year-old Gloucester, Virginia, man, and a known drug trafficker, will be spending the next five years in federal prison after being sentenced on July 15, 2025, for a federal firearms offense.

According to U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Kyle Jacob Buquor, 26, of Gloucester, Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Roderick C. Young to 60 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.

According To Court Documents

According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on July 15, 2024, Buquor parked his pickup truck in the area of Market Drive and entered a store. While inside the store, a K9 positively alerted to narcotics being in the truck, as law enforcement conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle.

Buquor was detained upon exiting the store and returning to his vehicle. During a subsequent probable cause search of the pickup truck, Agents located and seized a loaded handgun, three fully loaded magazines, an empty magazine, 11.5 grams of methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution activities.

U.S. Attorney commended the investigative work of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which led to the successful prosecution of Buquor.
