WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- On Thursday, July 24, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Andrew Dion, 57, an inmate housed at the Federal Correctional Institution Lewisburg, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, with two counts of Possession of Contraband in a Federal Prison; and one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and the charging information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that on June 2, 2025, Dion, while an inmate at FCI Lewisburg, was in possession of a broken, wooden broom handle, approximately 13 inches in length, which he used to strike and assault another inmate.
The indictment further alleges that Dion was also in possession of a bent brush with exposed metal prongs, approximately 8 inches in length, and fashioned into a weapon.
If Convicted, Dion Will Face Up To An Additional Ten Years
If convicted at trial, Dion faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison, at least one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. At sentencing, upon a finding of guilt, a U.S. District Court Judge would determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Dion’s prior criminal history.
