New Haven Convicted Felon Sentenced For Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm

BRIDGEPORT, CT.- A 42-year-old New Haven, Connecticut, man will be spending an additional three years in federal prison, after being sentenced on Tuesday, for unlawfully possessing a handgun while being free on bond, pending the commencement of his federal prison sentence for federal fraud and narcotics offenses.

     According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Antrum Coston, 42, of New Haven, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Stefan R. Underhill to 36 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release for his conviction of federal fireams offenses.

Coston Convicted In October 2024, On The Firearms Charges

     Coston has been detained since his arrest on October 25, 2023. On October 28, 2024, following a trial in Federal Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a jury found Coston guilty of being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm; and Possession of a Firearm While on Federal Release.

     According to documents filed with the District Court, on September 18, 2023, Judge Underhill sentenced Coston to 37 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for pandemic relief fraud, money laundering, and drug offenses. Judge Underhill ordered Coston, who was released on bond, to surrender himself to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons on November 29, 2023, to begin serving his federal term of imprisonment.

     On October 25, 2023, members of the New Haven Police Department arrested Coston after they found him in possession of a loaded Taurus G3 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine. 

     In handing down the sentence yesterday, Judge Underhill ordered the 36-month term of imprisonment to run consecutively to the 37 months he is currently serving. Coston has an extensive criminal history, including multiple state convictions and two federal felony convictions.
