JERSEY CITY, NJ.- A 17-year-old South Amboy, New Jersey, boy is facing life in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the robbery and shooting death of a 24-year-old Jersey City man after his charges were waived to Hudson County Criminal Court, and he will be prosecuted as an adult.

Following a court hearing earlier this week, in Hudson County Superior Court, Kaison Brown, 17, of South Amboy, New Jersey, was formally charged as an adult with first-degree Murder; first-degree Felony Murder; Robbery; Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

As Previously Reported Back In May

As previously reported, on Friday, May 10, 2025, just shortly before 10:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Pearsall and Garfield Avenues in the Greenville section of Jersey City.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Resheed Wallace, 24, of Jersey City, unresponsive from a gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. Wallace was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased shortly before 10:30 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a gunshot wound to the upper body and the Manner of Death to be Homicide. During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department were able to identify three suspects responsible for the fatal shooting of Mr. Wallace during an alleged robbery.

In addition to Brown being charged initially as a juvenile, Detectives also charged Makiyy Randolph, 22, of Paterson, New Jersey, with first-degree Murder; first-degree Felony Murder; Robbery; Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Randolph was taken into custody on Friday, July 12, 2025, on Gates Avenue in Jersey City after a brief foot pursuit with Detectives. He was additionally charged with Obstruction of Justice; and Resisting Arrest by Flight. He is currently being detained in the Hudson County Correctional Facility, pending future court proceedings.

A 14-year-old girl was also formally charged with juvenile delinquency with first-degree Murder; first-degree Felony Murder; Robbery; Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

It is unclear if the teen girl is being detained in a juvenile detention center and if Brown will be lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending trial in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
