Police Charge Man In Tuesday Afternoon Northwest Stabbing

WASHINGTON, DC.- A Tuesday afternoon verbal dispute turned violent, leaving one man hospitalized and another man jailed after being charged in a Northwest, D.C. stabbing incident.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A.Smith, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, just shortly before 12:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing on the 1800 Block of 7th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Police Find Man Stabbed
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation with the suspect, identified as Andre Thomas, 55, of Northwest, D.C., pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim. The victim was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound and subsequently released.
During the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that Thomas was responsible for stabbing the victim. Accordingly, Thomas was taken into custody at the scene and formally charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Thomas was processed on the charge and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
