Police Charge Man In Last Monday’s Atlantic City Shooting Death

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Monday, August 4, 2025, following an investigation, a 26-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with fatally gunning down Kendell Roseborough, 28, outside an Atlantic City motel.
Sheldon Ward, 26, of Atlantic City, was formally charged with first-degree Murder; first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Aggravated Assault; Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon;
Ward was taken into custody without incident by members of the U.S.Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Ward was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending future court proceedings in Atlantic County Superior Court in Mays Landing, New Jersey.
Charges Stem From The Shooting Death Last Monday
The charges stem from an incident that unfolded on Monday, July 28, 2025, when, around 10:00 p.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk outside the Martinique Motel, located at 3029 Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found the man, later identified as Kendell Roseborough, 28, also of Atlantic City, New Jersey, unresponsive on the sidewalk, having succumbed to a gunshot wound. Mr. Roseborough was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a gunshot wound and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department were able to identify Ward as the shooter and one of the individuals responsible for Mr. Roseborough’s death.
