Ridgewood Man Struck By Gunfire Monday In The City Of Paterson

PATERSON, NJ.- Detectives of the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting, after a Ridgewood, New Jersey, man arrived at a Bergen County hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Monday, August 4, 2025, just minutes after 3:15 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on Park Avenue near the intersection of East 18th Street in the City of Paterson.
Police Officers Find Evidence Of A Shooting But No Victim
Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a shooting crime scene, but were unable to locate a shooting victim at that time.
Police Later Learn That A Man Arrived At A Hospital
Later in the evening on Monday, Paterson Police Officers were dispatched to Valley Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey, after a 60-year-old Ridgewood, New Jersey, man had walked into the emergency room seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Following interviewing the man, Police Officers and Detectives determined that the man had been struck by gunfire had been struck by gunfire Monday afternoon in the area of Park Avenue and East 18th Street in the City of Paterson.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time, as Detectives continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
