2023 Northeast D.C. Argument Results In One Dead & Another Heading To Prison

WASHINGTON, DC.- Last Friday, a 30-year-old Washington, D.C., man learned he will be spending the next decade and a half after being sentenced for fatally gunning down a man following a verbal argument inside the Hechinger Mall, back in October of 2023, in Northeast, D.C.
According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, on Friday, August 1, 2025, Deandre Miles, 30, of Washington, D.C., appeared in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt to 180 months in prison for his February 2025 guilty plea for his February 2025 guilty plea for the murder of Davon Fuller, 28, in October of 2023.
Miles Pleads Guilty Tom The Charges In February
On February 28, 2025, Miles appeared in the Superior Court of the District Court and pleaded guilty before Judge Brandt to one count of Voluntary Manslaughter While Armed; and one count of Felony Destruction of Property. In addition, Judge Brandt sentenced Miles to 12 months in prison for the destruction of property offense and ordered the sentence to run concurrently with the 180-month sentence.
According To Court Documents
According to charging documents and statements made in the District Court, during the afternoon hours of October 16, 2023, within the 1600 Block of Maryland Avenue in Northeast, D.C. The victim, Davon Fuller, and Miles got into an argument inside a store at Hechinger Mall. Although the two men left the store without incident, they encountered each other within minutes inside another business at the mall, and again got into an argument.
The argument continued outside the store, where Miles pulled out a handgun and Mr. Fuller took out a knife. Despite Mr. Fuller telling Miles to stop following him, Miles persisted in walking behind Mr. Fuller throughout the mall before fatally shooting Mr. Fuller five times.
Mr. Fuller suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including to his shoulder, abdomen, buttocks, and upper extremities. Mr. Fuller succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
   Following the shooting of Mr. Fuller, Miles fled the scene and was apprehended by Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department on December 27, 2023, and has remained in the D.C. Central Detention Facility since that time.Â
