HARTFORD, CT.- Last Wednesday, a 29-year-old Bloomfield, Connecticut, man and a known large-scale drug trafficker learned he could be spending up to five decades in federal prison, after pleading guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearms charges.

According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Brandon C. Tyson, 29, of Bloomfield, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams of a Controlled Substance, Cocaine, and a Quantity of Fentanyl; and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Convicted Felon.

Tyson Is Facing Up To 50 Years In Prison When Sentenced

Following entering his guilty plea, the Court accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for October 29, 2025. At that time, Tyson, on the narcotics offense, faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. On the firearms charge, Tyson faces up to 10 years in federal prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Tyson’s prior criminal history. Tyson’s prior criminal history includes Connecticut State convictions for narcotics and assault offenses.

According To Court Documents

According to the charging information filed with the District Court, in May 2021, an ongoing investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives uncovered that Tyson unlawfully possessed a Glock 20, 9mm handgun. Additionally, Investigators determined that between May 2023 and March 2024, Tyson conspired to distribute cocaine and fentanyl within New Haven, Connecticut, and elsewhere in the District of Connecticut.

On March 27, 2024, Tyson was taken into custody on Connecticut State charges. On that date, Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at Tyson’s residence. During the search, Investigators located and seized around 1.7 kilograms of cocaine and $16,700 in U.S. currency. Tyson has remained in custody since his federal arrest on September 19, 2024.
