One Dead, Four Hospitalized In Manchester Motor Vehicle Collision

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ.- The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Manchester Township Police Department are continuing the investigation into a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday morning on Route 70 in Manchester Township, New Jersey.

     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Monday, August 11, 2025, at around 8:15 a.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 70 near Hilltop Road in the Township. Upon arrival, Police Officers located two vans that had collided, leaving one dead and four others hospitalized.

Investigators Determine That One Of The Vehicles Tried To Pass The Other Vehicle

     During the ensuing investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit- Vehicular Homicide Squad, the Manchester Police Department, with assistance from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators determined that a 2014 Dodge van, occupied by the driver and three passengers, was traveling Westbound on Route 70, when it collided with a 2017 Ford Sprinter van also traveling Westbound on Route 70.

     Investigators further determined that as the Ford van was attempting to make a left turn onto Hilltop Road, the Dodge van crossed over the double yellow line, passing stopped traffic, and collided with it.

Crash Results In One Killed And Four Hospitalized

     As a result of the collision, three front-seat passengers of the Dodge van were transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The fourth occupant of the Dodge van, who was seated in the cargo compartment of the van, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford van was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
