3 Charged With Murder In Friday Night’s Millville Shooting Death

MILLVILLE, NJ.- Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae reported that on Monday, August 18, 2025, shortly before 12:30 p.m., three Cumberland County, New Jersey men were taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man that occurred Friday night in Millville, New Jersey.
The three men, identified as Jequise R. Forrest, 19, of Millville, New Jersey, Alonzo E. Mincey, 19, of Vineland, New Jersey, and Jerramiah J. Michael, 19, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, have each ben charged with first-degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Assault, and multiple second-degree related Weapons offenses.
The Three Were Apprehended Monday Afternoon
The three men were apprehended on Monday afternoon inside an apartment located in the Amity Heights apartment complex in Bridgeton, New Jersey, by Detectives of the Milleville Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Bridgeton Police Department.
Forrest, Mincey, and Michael were processed on the charges and were remanded to the Cumberland County Jail pending future court proceedings in Cumberland County Superior Court in Bridgetown, New Jersey. The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain all three pending trial.
Charges Are The Result Of A Swift-Moving Investigation
The charges stem from a swift-moving investigation that began when, on Friday, August 15, 2025, just shortly before 7:00 p.m., members of the Millville Police Department responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting a shooting in the area of High and Oak Streets in the City of Millville. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Thomas Smith, III, unresponsive, having succumbed to a gunshot wound to his head. Mr. Thomas was subsequently pronounced deceased.
   During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and the Millville Police Department were able to develop information that led to Forrest, Mincey, and Michael being identified as the suspects and the individuals responsible for the death of Mr Smith. Shortly after being identified, the three were formally charged and remained at large until Monday afternoon.Â
