Union County Teacher Charged With Alleged Child Sex Crimes

PLAINFIELD, NJ.- Last Friday, following an investigation, a 23-year-old Plainfield, New Jersey, man, employed as a substitute teacher at a Plainfield, New Jersey, Charter School, was taken into custody and criminally charged in connection with alleged child endangerment crimes.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, August 15, 2025, Tory James, 23, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was taken into custody without incident and was formally charged with one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Promoting Obscene Material to a Minor. He was processed on the charges and was released on monitoring conditions pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
James Is A Charter School Substitute Teacher And Mentor
   At the time of his arrest, James was a current substitute teacher at the Queen City Academy Charter School and a mentor at the Queen City Mentoring Academy, a “Day Camp” for young men and women in the City of Plainfield, New Jersey.
The Prosecutor’s Office did not release any information about the allegations that led to the charges being filed against James.
