ELKINS, W.VA.- A 68-year-old Morgantown, West Virginia, convicted child predator will be serving an additional year in federal prison, after being sentenced on Wednesday for failing to surrender himself to U.S. Bureau of Prisons officials to begin serving a 2024 federal prison term.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, James Mansfield Davis, 68, Morgantown, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 12 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Failing to Surrender for a Federal Sentence.

According To Court Documents

According to documents filed with the District Court, on October 4, 2024, Davis failed to report to federal prison to begin serving an 82-month term of incarceration for his conviction on a federal child pornography charge in the Northern District of West Virginia.
