WASHINGTON, DC.- A 36-year-old Washington, D.C., man will be facing up to over three decades in prison when he is sentenced later this year, after pleading guilty last Thursday, for shooting two individuals, one fatally, in November 2021, in Southeast, D.C.
According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Walter Jenkins, 36, of Washington, D.C., appeared in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt to one count of second-degree Murder While Armed; and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Judge Brandt Schedules Jenkins To Be Sentenced In November
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Brandt accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for November 18, 2025. At that time, Jenkins faces a mandatory minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 33 years and six months in prison under the District of Columbia’s Voluntary Sentencing Guidelines.
According to the charging information and statements made in the Superior Court, on November 14, 2021, at around 4:47 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a report of gunfire on the 2000 Block of Alabama Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers, while canvassing the immediate area, located two shooting victims on the ground, lying near a vehicle on Bruce Place. One of the victims, identified as David Williams, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Mr. Williams was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to George Washington University Hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after an hour later.
The second victim was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to MedStar, where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to his legs and has since recovered.
During the ensuing investigation, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Branch Detectives were able to identify Jenkins as the suspect and the individual responsible for the death of Mr. Williams and the injury to the other victim. On February 4, 2022, Jenkins was taken into custody and formally charged. Jenkins has remained in custody since that date.
