VINELAND, NJ.- On Wednesday, a 26-year-old Vineland, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with an apparent dispute that led to the brutal stabbing of his grandfather to death late Tuesday night inside their Vineland, New Jersey home.

According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at around 11:00 p.m., members of the Vineland Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing incident inside a Diamond Drive home in the City of Vineland, New Jersey.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Man Stabbed Inside His Home

Upon arrival, Police Officers located Albert Moir, 59, of Vineland, New Jersey, inside the home, suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. Mr. Moir was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Moir succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and the Vineland Police Department quickly determined that Mr. Moir’s grandson, Shawn A. Moir, 26, of Vineland, New Jersey, had fatally stabbed his grandfather to death inside their home, and fled the scene in his grandfather’s 2009 Chevrolet Tohoe.

Accordingly, following the investigation, Moir was formally charged with two counts of first-degree Murder, Purposely and Knowingly; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, during the afternoon hours, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended Moir hiding inside the parking garage at Villanova University in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Moir was processed on the charges and is currently being detained in Pennsylvania pending extradition to New Jersey.
