BRIDGEPORT, CT.- A 33-year-old Lithonia, Georgia, man and a counterfeit pill trafficker could be facing up to life in federal prison when sentenced later this year after pleading guilty on Tuesday, in Federal Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to a federal narcotics trafficking offense.
According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Tyrone Brown, 33, formerly of Lithonia, Georgia, and currently detained in custody, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Stefan R. Underhill to Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams or More of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
Following entering his guilty plea on Tuesday, Judge Underhill accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for December 2, 2025. At that time, Brown faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years, and up to life in federal prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $5 million. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Brown’s prior criminal history.
According To Court Documents
According to the charging information and statements made in the District Court, beginning on or about January 2022, and lasting through March 2024, Brown mailed parcels containing counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine from Georgia to a New Haven, Connecticut address associated with Gregory Grant and other individuals.
During the investigation, Investigators identified around 79 suspicious packages shipped from Brown to Grant during that time period. In January 2023, Investigators conducted a court-authorized search of an intercepted package and uncovered 16 ziplock sandwich bags containing a total of more than four kilograms of multicolored methamphetamine pills and a firearm. Investigators also determined that Grant made multiple payments to Brown during the drug trafficking conspiracy.
Brown has been detained since his arrest on April 7, 2025. Grant of New Haven, Connecticut, pleaded guilty on March 12, 2025, for his role in the conspiracy and remains detained pending sentencing.
U.S. Attorney Sullivan commended the investigative work of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Narcotics and Bulk Cash Trafficking Task Force for the arrest of Brown and Tuesday’s guilty plea.
