Monroeville Man Charged With Child Pornography Offenses

MONROEVILLE, NJ.- Last Thursday, following an investigation, a 31-year-old Monroeville, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged with distributing and possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns, Mason C. Gaunt, 31, of Monroeville, New Jersey, was taken into custody on Thursday, September 5, 2025, and criminally charged with second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and third-degree Possession. He was processed on the charges and was released pending his first appearance, which has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Gloucester County Superior Court in Woodbury, New Jersey.

The charges stem from an investigation that began when the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual within the Gloucester County, New Jersey area who was utilizing a Social Media platform to upload and distribute digital images and video files of child pornography.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office were able to trace an IP address associated with the social media account to a residence located in the Monroeville section of Elk Township, New Jersey. Detectives further identified Gaunt as the owner and user of the social media account.
On August 21, 2025, Detectives of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elk Township Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at Gaunt’s Monroeville, New Jersey, residence. During the search, Detectives seized two cellular phones belonging to Gaunt. During a subsequent forensic examination of the cellular phones, Investigators uncovered that the cellular phones had been utilized to access a social media account to view, download, and distribute media files of child pornography.
If convicted at trial, Gaunt faces a maximum of ten years in New Jersey State Prison. Additionally, Gaunt would also be subject to parole supervision for life and be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
