BURLINGTON CITY, NJ.- Late last month, following an investigation, a 19-year-old Eastampton, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with opening fire on an occupied vehicle that occurred earlier in August in Burlington City, New Jersey.

According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Donte Anderson, 19, of Eastampton, New Jersey, was taken into custody and formally charged with two counts of second-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; fourth-degree Possession of a Defaced Firearm; fourth-degree Possession of a Large-Capacity Magazine; and fourth-degree Aggravated Assault.

Anderson was taken into custody on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Burlington County Jail. Following his first appearance and a subsequent detention hearing, a Burlington County Superior Court Judge ordered Anderson to remain detained pending trial.

Charges Are A Result Of An August 14, 2025, Shooting

The charges stem from an investigation that began during the evening hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, when members of the Burlington City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of York and Clarkson Streets in the City.

During the subsequent investigation, Detectives uncovered that on that night, Anderson was in the City of Burlington and opened fire, firing around 10 rounds toward a sedan because he and the occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a dispute. During the course of the investigation, Detectives were able to recover the handgun they believed was used in the shooting from inside a Lumberton, New Jersey, residence.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
