Huntington Man Pleads Guilty To A Federal Narcotics Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- Today, a 40-year-old Huntington, West Virginia, man and local methamphetamine peddler, learned he will be facing up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced early next year after pleading guilty to selling meth to an informant.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, September 15, 2025, Darrelle Davon Boyton, also known as “D,” 40, of Huntington, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

     Following entering his guilty plea today, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 12, 2025. At that time, Boyton faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, as well as a $1 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Boyton’s prior criminal history.

According To The Charging Documents Filed With The Court

     According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on April 23, 2025, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Boyton sold around two ounces of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in a Huntington, West Virginia, parking lot, under the observation of Investigators of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force. During his plea allocution Today, Boyton admitted to selling the methamphetamine and arranging the sale beforehand.

     Boyton additionally admitted that he sold approximately 57 grams of methamphetamine on April 29, 2025, and approximately 8.32 grams of heroin and fentanyl on May 8, 2025, each time to a confidential informant in Huntington, West Virginia.

Boyton Was On Probation When He Sold The Meth

     At the time of the instant offense, Boynton was serving a term of supervised release after pleading guilty to distribution of heroin and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on August 24, 2020.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department for Boyton’s arrest and today’s guilty plea to the charge.
