Inkster Man Pleads Guilty To West Virginia Federal Drug Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- A 29-year-old Inkster, Michigan, man and drug trafficker, will be facing up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced later this year, after pleading guilty yesterday in Federal Court in Huntington, West Virginia, to selling methamphetamine to an informant right outside a public park in Huntington, West Virginia.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, September 15, 2025, Jeremiah Telmon-Isaiah Hand, also known as “Joey,” 29, of Inkster, Michigan, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

     Following entering his guilty plea yesterday, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for December 15, 2025. At that time, Hand faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, as well as a fine of up to $1 million.

According To The Charging Information Filed With The Court

     According to the charging information and statements made in the District Court, on July 17, 2024, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Hand sold around an ounce of methamphetamine in exchange for $180 to a confidential informant near Ritter Park in Huntington, West Virginia, during a controlled buy under the observation of Investigators of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force.

Hand Admits Guilt To The Crime

     During his plea allocution, Hand admitted to selling the illicit controlled substance to the confidential informant and arranging the sale beforehand. Hand further admitted that co-defendant Madison Grant Sergeant was with him during the sale.

     Hand also admitted to additional criminal activities as part of his guilty plea. On July 22, 2024, a Huntington, West Virginia, Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by Hand in Huntington. Hand admitted to driving the vehicle, and that the $1,465 found in the vehicle was the proceeds from methamphetamine sales, and that co-defendant Rakai Travall Hawkins was a passenger in his vehicle.

     Hawkins, also known as “G,” 31, of Detroit, Michigan, pleaded guilty on July 29, 2025, to federal methamphetamine and fentanyl charges and has been scheduled to be sentenced on November 3, 2025. The Federal Indictment against Sergeant, 26, of Huntington, West Virginia.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department.
