Second Huntington Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty To Federal Narcotics Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- Yesterday, a 44-year-old Huntington, West Virginia, man, a local drug dealer, learned he could be facing up to 40 years in federal prison when he is sentenced early next year, after pleading guilty to selling over a quarter of a pound of methamphetamine to an informant earlier this year.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, September 15, 2025, Derrick Deshawn Bailey, 44, of Huntington, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to a federal information charging him with Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

     Following entering his guilty plea yesterday, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 12, 2026. At that time, Bailey faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Bailey’s prior criminal history.

According To Court Documents

     According to the charging documents and statements made in the District Court, on April 29, 2025, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Bailey sold around 120 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Huntington, West Virginia, during a controlled buy under the observation of Investigators of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force. 

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department, which led to the apprehension of Bailey and Monday’s guilty plea.
