TRENTON, NJ.- A 29-year-old Toms River, New Jersey, man, and an accused international child predator will be facing up to 30 years in federal prison when he is sentenced early next year, after pleading guilty last week to traveling to Norway to engage in sex with a 14-year-old girl.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney and Special Attorney Alina Habba, last week, Jacob Bauer, 29, of Toms River, New Jersey, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert Kirsch to a one-count criminal information charging Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct in a Foreign Place.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Kirsch accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 21, 2026. At that time, Bauer faces up to 30 years in federal prison, at least five years, and up to a $250,000 fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Bauer’s prior criminal history.

According To Court Documents

According to the charging information and statements made in the District Court, from December 1, 2023, through December 10, 2023, Bauer, then 27 years old, traveled from the United States to Norway to engage in sexual activity with a then 14-year-old girl. Once in Norway, Bauer, staying at a hotel, engaged in sexual activity with the child.

After returning to the United States, Bauer communicated over various Social Media platforms with the girl and others about his sexual activities with the girl. During those online conversations, Bauer acknowledged the victim’s age and status as a minor. After members of an online community that Bauer was active in learned of his sexual activities with a minor, Bauer was “doxxed,” posting his public information was published online by members of that community.
