SWEDESBORO, NJ.- Late last week, a 25-year-old Swedesboro, New Jersey, man and accused child predator was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with possessing and distributing over a thousand digital images and video files depicting the horrific sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns, on Friday, September 12, 2025, following an extensive online child pornography investigation, Dexter L. Reid, 25, of Swedesboro, New Jersey, was taken into custody and formally charged with first-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Child Pornography; second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and second-degree Possession of Child Pornography.
Reid was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Salem County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Gloucester Superior Court in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Charges Resulted From A CyberTip From Social Media
The charges stem from an investigation that began when members of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual within the Gloucester County, New Jersey, area was distributing media files containing child pornography over multiple Social Media platforms.
On August 20, 2025, following being identified, Detectives from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Reid’s Swedesboro, New Jersey, residence. During the search, Detectives seized six digital electronic devices belonging to Reid. During a subsequent forensic examination of the devices, Investigators uncovered that more than one of the devices contained child pornography.
If Convicted At Trial, Reid Faces Up To 20 Years In Prison
If convicted at trial, Reid faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. At sentencing upon a finding of guilt, Reid would be subject to parole supervision for life and be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
