Parkersburg Man Sentenced For Selling Meth To An Informant

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- A 39-year-old Parkersburg, West Virginia, man will be spending the next five years in federal prison after being sentenced on Monday, in Federal Court in Charleston, West Virginia, for selling methamphetamine to an informant during a narcotics investigation.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, September 22, 2025, Aaron Lee Mitter, 39, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to 60 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

In handing down the sentence on Monday, Judge Goodwin noted Mitter’s extensive criminal history, including convictions for domestic battery, breaking and entering, burglary, and theft.
According To Documents Filed With The District Court
According to documents and statements made in the District Court, on July 11, 2024, during an investigation into the distribution of illicit narcotics in the Parkersburg, West Virginia, area, Mitter sold around 24.52 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in exchange for $280 during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement Investigators.
During Monday’s plea allocution, Mitter admitted to the sale. Mitter further admitted to selling an unregistered, privately made firearm, commonly known as a “Ghost Gun,” and a high-capacity magazine with a capacity of holding 45 rounds of ammunition on that day in exchange for $400.
On July 17, 2024, following the controlled buy, law enforcement Investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Parkersburg apartment where Mitter was staying at the time. During the search, Investigators located and seized around 45.67 grams of methamphetamine. On Monday, Mitter also admitted to possessing the methamphetamine and that he intended to use some of the substance and distribute the remaining amount.
   Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the Parkersburg Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which led to the successful prosecution of Mitter.Â
