Bergen County Man Charged With Multiple Weapons Offenses

LODI, NJ.- On Wednesday, following an investigation, a 52-year-old Lodi, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with firing four rounds into a parked vehicle.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, members of the Lodi Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle being damaged by gunfire on Burns Avenue in the Borough of Lodi, New Jersey.
Detectives Determine Tufino Shot A Parked Car
During the investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department determined that on Saturday, September 20, 2025, shortly before 8:30 p.m., Javier E. Tufino, 52, of Lodi, New Jersey, pulled out a handgun on the street and fired four rounds at an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing damage.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Detectives obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Tufino’s Lodi residence. During the search, Detectives located and seized multiple firearms and ammunition. At that time, Tufino was taken into custody. During his arrest procedure, Detectives uncovered that Tufino had been previously convicted of a felony, prohibiting him from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition.
Tufino Charged And Jailed On Weapons Charges
Accordingly, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Tufino was formally charged with second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Tufino was processed on the charges and remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
