Man Fatally Gunned Down Sunday Morning On A Jersey City Street

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Sunday, a 27-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey, man became the tenth victim to fall prey this year to violence in New Jersey’s second-largest city, after he was fatally gunned down early Sunday morning in the Bergen-Lafayette section of Jersey City, New Jersey.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, shortly after 5:00 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Union Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City.
Police Officers Find Jersey City Man Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a man, later identified as Jamaal George, 27, of Jersey City, New Jersey, unresponsive, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. George was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. George sadly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased just shortly after 5:30 a.m.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time as Investigators continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
