Monmouth County Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography

HOWELL, NJ.- Last Wednesday, following an investigation, a 61-year-old Howell Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with child endangerment in connection with possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, John T. Curley, 61, of Howell Township, New Jersey, has been formally charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for Possessing Child Pornography. Curly was taken into custody on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. 

     Curley was processed on the charge and remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey. The Monmouth County prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Curley pending trial, which is scheduled to be heard today by a Monmouth County Superior Court Judge.

Charges Are The Result Of A Child Pornography Investigation

     According to the Prosecutor’s Office, following receiving information regarding Curley’s online activities, an investigation was launched by the Howell Township Police Department. On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Investigators of the Howell Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office executed a court-authorized search warrant at Curley’s Howell Township residence. 

     During the search, Investigators seized multiple electronic devices that contained multiple media files depicting child pornography. At that time, Curley was taken into custody without incident.

     The investigation remains ongoing.
