SCRANTON, NJ.- Late last month, a 25-year-old Thornhurst, Pennsylvania, woman and local drug dealer learned she will be spending over two decades in federal prison after being sentenced for her role in an illicit narcotics conspiracy that was responsible for distributing large quantities of deadly fentanyl that resulted in the fatal overdose of an individual.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Kaylee Ann Widmer, 25, of Thornhurst, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani to 252 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release for her conviction of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Oxycodone and 40 Grams or More of Fentanyl Resulting in Death.

According to documents filed with the District Court, beginning in January 2022 and lasting through February 2023, Widmer, along with her boyfriend, Christopher Potter, and others, conspired to distribute illicit narcotics throughout Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties in the Western District of Pennsylvania.

During the conspiracy, Widmer supplied fentanyl to her co-conspirator, Santino Bellucci, who, on December 18, 2022, sold an individual fentanyl, causing the individual to fatally overdose from ingesting the fentanyl. At the time of the death, Widmer was obtaining large amounts of fentanyl from individuals residing in the Hazleton, Pennsylvania area throughout the conspiracy.

Judge Mariani previously sentenced both co-conspirators, Santion Bellucci, 28, of Dickson City, Pennsylvania, and Christopher Potter, 30, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, to 252 months in federal prison for their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy.

Acting U.S. Attorney Gurganus commended the investigative work of the Dunmore Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Widmer.
