Police Charge Teenager In Early Friday Morning Vineland Stabbing Death

VINELAND, NJ.- On Friday, a 17-year-old was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged brutal stabbing death of a 38-year-old woman that occurred early that morning inside a Vineland, New Jersey.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Friday, October 3, 2025, just around 4:00 a.m., members of the Vineland Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a possible murder inside a residence located on Union Road in Vineland, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, Police Officers entered the home and found Christina Asselta, 38, of Vineland, New Jersey, who had sustained multiple life-threatening stab wounds. Responding Police Officers immediately rendered medical aid, where, despite their efforts, Ms. Asselta succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and the Vineland Police Department quickly identified a 17-year-old juvenile as the individual responsible for the stabbing death of Ms. Asselta, whom the juvenile knew.
Accordingly, on Friday, October 3, 2025, shortly after the murder of Ms. Asselta, the juvenile was taken into custody and charged with first-degree Murder; fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives believe that this was an isolated act of violence and there is no threat to the public at this time.
