Police Charge Man In Early Saturday Morning Northwest Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 35-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with fatally gunning down a 26-year-old man during the early morning hours on Saturday, in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, just minutes after 12:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 1400 Block of Clifton Street in Northwest, D.C.

Police Officers Find Northwest, D.C. Man Fatally Shot

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Jerome Myles, 26, of Northwest, D.C., unresponsive, on the ground, having succumbed to a gunshot wound. Mr. Myles was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services. 

Detectives Locate And Arrest One Of Two Suspects

     During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers spotted two apparent suspects fleeing the scene and entering a nearby apartment building. D.C. Homicide Branch Detectives responded to the scene, and following multiple emergency search warrants, one of the suspects, identified as Antone Whitaker, 35, of Northeast, D.C.,  was located hiding inside one of the apartments.

     Following being located, Whitaker was taken into custody and formally charged on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with first-degree Murder While Armed. He was processed on the charge and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing as Detectives continue the search for the second suspect who has evaded capture since the fatal shooting.
