Woman Found Dead Sunday Night Inside A Northeast D.C. Apartment

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 33-year-old woman, whose lifeless body was found early Sunday evening inside a Northeast, D.C. residence.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, just minutes before 7:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a request to conduct a welfare check at a residence located on the 4000 Block of Minnesota Avenue in Northeast, D.C.

Police Officers Make Entry, And Find A Woman Fatally Shot Inside

     Upon arrival, Police Officers made entry into the residence and discovered the body of a woman, later identified as Maurisha Singletary, 33, of Northeast, D.C., having succumbed to an apparent gunshot wound. Ms. Singletary was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time, as Detectives continue the search for a suspect and a motive for the shooting death.
