Police Charge Man In November 2024, Northwest, D.C. Stabbing Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, following a nearly year-long investigation, a 55-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old man that occurred in November 2024, in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, and as previously reported, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, just shortly after 6:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing on the 400 Block of Kansas Avenue in Northwest, D.C.
Victim Dies A Short Time Later After Being Stabbed
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Vance Contee, 31, of Northwest, D.C., unresponsive from multiple stab wounds. At that time, Me. Contee was transported to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Contee succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, based on witness accounts and area video surveillance footage, were able to identify the suspect as Frank Flythe, 55, of Northwest, D.C., as the individual responsible for the stabbing death of Mr. Contee, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Suspect Apprehended On Tuesday
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Flythe. Following being taken into custody, he was formally charged with one count of second-degree Murder While Armed. Flythe was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
