WASHINGTON, DC.- U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro reported that, in late August, Federal Agents launched a city-wide operation to ensure that sex offenders who reside or work in the District of Columbia remain compliant under the terms of the sex offender registration requirements.

Beginning on August 24, 2025, Federal Agents from the U.S. Marshals Service, in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, have conducted compliance checks on 883 sex offenders and identified, arrested, and prosecuted 25 sex offenders for failing to register. Nine of the twenty-five are “Class A” sex offenders who have been convicted of either horrific sexual assaults or having sexually assaulted multiple victims.

“This effort is an essential part of ensuring public safety in D.C.,” said U.S. Attorney Pirro. “The sex offender registry is a vital tool that protects communities, ensures accountability, and prevents further victimization. Once convicted, sex offenders who fail to register or fail to update their information, and put vulnerable populations at risk.
