Union County Woman Charged With Murder In Stabbing Death

UNION, NJ.- On Saturday, a 39-year-old Union Township, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 37-year-old man that occurred during the evening hours of Saturday inside a Union, New Jersey apartment.
According to Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Erika Hampton, 39, of Union, New Jersey, was formally charged with first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Hampton was processed on the charges and remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Charges Stem From A Saturday Night Stabbing Incident
The charges stem from an incident that unfolded on Saturday, October 18, 2025, when, just shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the Union Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive man inside an apartment at the Vermella Union Apartments located in the area of Morris Avenue in the Township.
   Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Nana Kwadwo Takyi Ankamah, 37, also of Union, New Jersey, suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. Mr. Ankamah was immediately transported to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Ankamah succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
