According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Romelus pending trial.
Charges Stem From Last Wednesday’s Fatal Stabbing
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, when, shortly before 2:30 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being stabbed in the area of Market Street and Veterans Place in the City of Paterson.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found William Davis, 38, of Paterson, New Jersey, lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple life-threatening stab wounds. Mr. Davis was transported by Paterson Fire and Emergency Medical Services to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Davis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Investigations Unit and the Paterson Police Department were able to identify Romelus as the suspect and the individual responsible for Mr. Davis’ death.
If convicted at trial, Romelus faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years and up to life in New Jersey State Prison.
